SIGHT WORDS
I have posted the sight word lists we will be working with in grade one and two. Students start with the pre-primer list to learn quick recall of the sight words at the beginning of grade one. They will continue to practice reading and spelling these words until they come automatically. You can print these sheets and practice them at home. I recommend putting the words on flashcards.
WELCOME
A few more weeks and Tanner's Crossings halls will once again be filled with the sights and sounds of a new school year. Soon I will be setting up the classroom and getting school supplies ready for the our new group. We are lucky to have grade two students who are familiar with the classroom and can help the grade ones with their transition. I am looking forward to a successful year for all our learners.
Madam Dupuis will be teaching the mathematics program in the morning from 10:25 to 11:55. During this time I work on the Reading Recovery program. This year students will be working on the grade two social/science program. Music will be on day 1 and 5. Gym will be on day 2, 3, 4 and 6.
In September, students are assessed and grouped for instruction at their reading level. Home reading will start before the end of September and children will choose books at their independent reading level for daily practice.
I am getting excited about our year!
